Manufacturers urge pause on EFRIS penalty enforcement
Manufacturers are asking for a pause on the enforcement of a six million shillings penalty imposed by the Uganda Revenue Authority on businesses that fail to effectively use the Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution or EFRIS. They say six million shillings is an exorbitant fee that does not cover the invoicing value and could lead to the collapse of small and medium-sized businesses. However, the manufacturers are supportive of the EFRIS system as it will allow a level playing field through the remission of requisite taxes.
