Job Role:

To ensure that all video and audio material on news, local programmes and commercials is properly received, stored and archived for current and future use.

The job entails processing, storing and assisting in-house library users to retrieve audio and video information.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Ensures adequate stock of CDs, DVDs, mini DVs, any other filming and storage hardware required by users.
  2. Archive all information resources, periodicals, video and audio material received by classifying information received for easy retrieval by library users
  3. Catalogue all new information on materials to ensure that they are well stored for easy accessibility by users
  4. Retrieve stored and achieved information for in-house users
  5. Advise and ensure the proper disposal of expired, damaged and unwanted stock
  6. Sell News clips, in-house production and other materials to users who require them in accordance with the established procedure
  7. Ensure periodicals such as newspapers are bound and stored well
  8. Develop, update and maintain the library database

Required Abilities & Competences:

  1. A basic University degree in Librarianship and Information Science
  2. Confidentiality and integrity
  3. Be approachable, highly organized and flexible with excellent communication
  4. Proficiency in working with electronic databases
  5. Appreciation of the pressure and demands of media industry
  6. Good knowledge of current affairs and a strong sense of News awareness
  7. Ability to work long and odd hours under tight deadlines and to think fast and give clear directions in a fast paced environment
  8. Have a keen eye for detail, thoroughness and be meticulous
