8: 11 PM: BREAKING: Bank of Uganda closes ActionAid Uganda accounts

The Bank of Uganda has closed the bank accounts of ActionAid Uganda a local NGO working in the areas of democracy and advocacy. 

Arthur Larok, ActionAid's country director, told Reuters that Standard Chartered Bank Uganda, where the organisation has its accounts, had told them they had blocked the accounts on instruction from the central bank.

7:30pm: President Museveni finally and officially backs #agelimit bill. 

5.20 PM: There are protests outside the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House over Raila Odinga. 

The Kenyan opposition leader who recently pulled out of the election re-run will be speaking to the international affairs think tank later today. 

According to the Chatham house rules, what a guest says to the members of the chatham house cannot be repeated outside its halls.

However an exception can be made in some circumstances, and it appears an exception has been made for the veteran opposition leader.



4.30 PM: Kenya police shoots two protestors dead

Kenyan police shot dead two people and wounded a third person on Friday when a crowd of opposition demonstrators attempted to storm a police station, a local official in Kenya’s southwestern Siaya county said.

3.54pm: Ghana’s government orders for a halt to the construction of fuel stations after Saturday's fire which killed seven people.

The issued summons were similar to those of RED PEPPER but over a story; "AGE LIMIT BUDGET OF THE LEGAL AND PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE SHOWS THAT THE MEMBERS WILL SPEND 700M IN 10DAYS" of the Thursday 10th October 2017 issue.

12: 26 PM: Kenya: Anti-IEBC demos: Police clash with Nasa supporters

Police and opposition supporters have clashed after the latter defied government ban and took their anti-IEBC demos some city centres.

In Mombasa, anti-riot police were not taking chances as they swarmed the coastal city's streets to enforce the government directive.

11:40 am: HAPPENING: Engineers Forum 2017 at Hotel Africana.

Honorable Monica Azuba Ntege says that many engineers are rolled out each year but there is low or no increment in registration of engineers to their professional body. This year, only 100 registered while last year only 30 did.
