Interviews for 10 shortlisted candidates seeking the post of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) start Thursday (March 8).

A senior assistant DPP and three deputy DPPs will battle it out with six other candidates to succeed their former boss, Keriako Tobiko, who is now the Environment Cabinet Secretary.

Supreme Court Deputy Registrar Daniel ole Keiwua, a former commissioner of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Thomas Letangule and Senior Assistant DPP James Mungai Warui will be the first three candidates to be interviewed.

The selection panel of seven members appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta will in the afternoon interview National Intelligence Service Senior Director Noordin Haji, Senior Counsel Lucy Kambuni and Deputy DPP Dorcas Oduor.

On Friday in the morning, Deputy DPP Nicholas Mutuku, lawyer Patrick Magero Gumo and Mr Jacob Nyakundi Ondari will be the first three candidates to face the panel.

The selection panel will conclude the exercise by interviewing Machakos Chief Magistrate Abdulkadir Ramadhan.

Meanwhile, members of the public on Wednesday raised concerns after the panel failed to provide clear addresses for them to submit their objections on the 10 shortlisted candidates.

Last week, the panel chairperson, Dr Elizabeth Muli, published names of all applicants and shortlisted candidates and invited the public to “avail in writing any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates”.

However, the advertisement did not indicate email or postal addresses.

The panel members are Mr Kennedy Kihara (Office of the President), Ms Maryann Njau (AG’s office), Ms Lilian Omollo (Public Service) and four others.
