Isimba power dam will reduce the cost of electricity - UEGCL
More than 460million US dollars have been invested in the Isimba hydropower project which kicked off in 2015 and its hoped by 2018 August they would have completed

The Chief Executive Officer UEGCL Eng Harrison Mutikanga says the 183mw produced after completion of the power plant will reduce the tariff price of electricity.

The Isimba hydropower project under construction by the China International Water and Electric Corporation is now at a 75percent physical completion rate.

The River Nile whose waters will be used to generate 183mw has now been diverted back to its natural path.

Land disputes continue to delay transmission lines meant to distribute power and insufficient funds have slowed the process of UEGCL acquiring a new supervising contractor.

More than 460million US dollars have been invested in the Isimba hydropower project which kicked off in 2015 and its hoped by 2018 August they would have completed, those living in Kayunga hope that once the power comes online, they will be able to light their homes.
