Government agencies that generate their own funds, want greater control on spending
The Agencies say limited and unsteady cash releases from the consolidated fund are hampering their efficiency.

A cross-section of Departments and Agencies of government that generate non-tax revenue and have since been barred from spending at the source say limited and unsteady cash releases from the consolidated fund is hampering their efficiency.

 

Some selected agencies such as the Uganda Wildlife Authority that generate nearly 100 Billion each financial year, are, however, exempted and do spend 100% at source.

 

Budget experts are advising the government to make exceptions with critical agencies such as the Bureau of Standards in whose hands are product safety and standards.
