Principal Judge Yorokamu Banwine takes over as Mediator in Bank of Uganda vs Sudhir Ruparelia case
Bamwine's appointment comes after the parties in the case rejected the earlier appointed mediator Harriet Magala and instead suggested that they had confidence in the principle judge to act as a mediator in this case.

Businessman Sudhir Ruparelia is being sued by Bank of Uganda.

The  Principle judge Yorakamu Bamwine has taken over as the new mediator in a case between Businessman Sudhir Ruparelia and Bank of Uganda.

Bamwine's appointment comes after the parties in the case rejected the earlier appointed mediator Harriet Magala and instead suggested that they had confidence in the principle judge to act as a mediator in this case.

Justice Bamwine  met Sudhir, his son Rajiv Ruparelia, his lawyer Peter Kabatsi  and Bank of Uganda supervision Director Justine Bagyenda for an hour closed-door  discussion this afternoon

The registrar in-charge of mediation Vincent Mugabo told NTV  that a ruling regarding an application filed by Sudhir to have lawyers AFK Mpanga and Timothy Masembe Kanyerezi thrown off the case as Bank of Uganda lawyers will not proceed so as to enable the parties to explore  the merits of mediation as earlier advised by justice David Wangutusi.

Mugabo said they will now notify the parties on the proposed date for this ruling after the mediation is concluded.

Bank of Uganda sued Sudhir Ruparelia and his  Meera investments company for allegedly siphoning a huge sum of money from Crane Bank.

This resulted in Bank of Uganda taking over Crane Bank that it has since sold to DFCU Bank.
