Activists protest calls by US firm to have Uganda suspended from AGOA over second-hand clothes
Nathan Irumba the Executive director SEATINI says the proponents of AGOA have since deviated from the original purpose of the programme

Civil society activists Southern and Eastern Africa Trade Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) have protested a petition filed by a US firm, and leading exporter of secondary materials and recycled textiles, urging the US government to review Uganda’s AGOA eligibility status.

Nathan Irumba the Executive director SEATINI says the proponents of AGOA have since deviated from the original purpose of the programme focusing instead on exploiting the beneficiaries by propagating unfair trade tendencies.
