Banks are not willing to lend to the public - BOU Deputy governor Dr Kasekende
Deputy Governor Dr Louis Kasekende cautions that this particular situation in the market needs to be corrected, in order for enterprises to secure loan approvals that have remain at just 6% this year down from 15% in 2016.

Bank of Uganda is resurrecting public concerns over the wide-spread between the cost of credit and profitability of the country’s financial institutions.

Deputy Governor Dr Louis Kasekende cautions that this particular situation in the market needs to be corrected, in order for enterprises to secure loan approvals that have remain at just 6% this year down from 15% in 2016.

The Central Bank, observes, that the current trend, could undermine the obvious quest for rapid recovery of the economy, whose target for growth this year has been put at 4.9%.
