EAC can leverage growth rates and population to attract private capital inflows, says Citigroup head
Citigroup’s Managing Director for investment banking in Africa, Miguel Azevedo, says that the EAC’s 5% growth average and large market can still attract billions of dollars in direct private capital inflows.

Citigroup’s Managing Director for investment banking in Africa, Miguel Azevedo, says that the EAC’s 5% growth average and large market can still attract billions of dollars in direct private capital inflows.

Azevedo says that the current slump in demand implies that private sector firms must re-organize their internal structures in order to benefit from equity capital for expansion and new profit from the market.

Citigroup’s current private sector portfolio stands at approximately Shs200 billion, mainly targeting the upper tier of the credit market.
