Minister Otafiire tasked to explain his involvement in Jinja land saga
In his defence, Otafiire said he was promoting local trade by agreeing to house a investor who claimed had been frustrated

The Commission of inquiry into Land Matters has tasked Justice Minister Kahinda Otafiire to explain the circumstances under which he granted a no-objection letter for the demolition of a Government building and subsequent giveaway of the land to local investor Simpson Birungi.

The Land in contention sits on Plot 60-62 Aldina Visram road in Jinja town, which at the time of demolition, hosted 10 small scale traders.

Otafiire is also accused of ignoring the IGG’s directive on demolishing the building.
