Police have shot and injured a man who was in the company of six others who were attempting to commit a robbery at city oil petrol station in Kamwokya, Kampala.
According to the security guard at the station, the men in the foiled robbery attempt were armed with two AK 47 rifles and 2 pistols and they were travelling in a grey Toyota Noah minivan that had no number plates.
The security guard also claims that the owners of the petrol station had been tipped off of the planned robbery and they had called in the police to boost security. The robbers got to the petrol station at around 2pm in the afternoon and a shootout with the police ensued.
Two people, one robber and one City Oil staff member, were injured in the shootout. The other robbers surrendered and they were subsequently arrested by the police and taken away to an unknown destination.
