Deputy speaker Jacob Oulanyah calls for investigations into rampant murders in Uganda
The most affected areas were greater Masaka, Entebbe and Wakiso. In Masaka, unidentified assailants dropped leaflets of names of their victims whom they would later return and kill.

2017 will remain etched on many people’s in the country, It was the year that many innocent civilians lives were taken in circumstances that left more questions than answers.

Most affected areas were Greater Masaka, Entebbe and Wakiso.

In Masaka, unidentified assailants dropped leaflets of names of their victims whom they would later return and kill.

These leaflets spread to areas of Nakawa in Kiwatule and Kiira while In Entebbe and Wakiso it was mainly the women and young girls. The insecurity was also registered in parts of Karamoja and Kapchorwa

Whereas they’ve been arrests made in some of these cases, no conclusive trials have been brought towards to the accused.

This has prompted the deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah to call for thorough investigation into these murders.

The Deputy speaker’s directive directive followed pleas by the Masaka woman MP Mary Kabanda demanding Government’s intervention

Kabanda also wants the affected families compensated.

For the last 30 years, the NRM has taken price in the peace and security of Ugandan citizens.

These incidents, however, leave dark spots in this legacy.
