DPP drops charges against musicians accused of disturbing the President's peace
Mugema and Muwanguzi are alleged to have sang and produced a song titled " Mzee Wummula" in which they attacked the person of the president

The Director of Public Prosecution Mike Chibita has withdrawn charges of offensive communication against two music artistes-  David Mugema and  Jonathan Muwanguzi, who had been accused of disturbing the peace of the President.

Mugema and Muwanguzi are alleged to have sang and produced a song titled " Mzee Wummula" in which they attacked the person  of the president.

They are said to have committed the offence between 2015 and 2017 at Salama road in Makindye Division-Kampala district.

However since their arrest in September last year,  they have been reporting to Buganda Road Court for trial but there was no progress in the prosecution.

This prompted  Grade one Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu to issue the last adjournment on 13th March 2018 for witnesses to appear in court today or she would dismiss the case.

The magistrate has ordered the state to return equipment that had been confiscated from Mugema and Muwanguzi. They were represented by Abdallah Kiwanuka.
