Christine Nassali a resident of Kigaya in Buikwe district who testified before the Commission of Inquiry into land matters claims State minister of water Ronald Kibuule and security operatives were responsible for torturing her husband Dickson Wasswa.

Wasswa, who later died, was one of the squatters on the 85 acres of land Kibuule claims he acquired legally from the legal heir to the mother of the Buganda King, Namasole Sarah Natoolo, through an agent called Musa Katerega.

The commission also heard from officials of Buganda Land Board the custodian of Buganda kingdom land which also claims ownership of the land.

Buganda Land Board’s Chief Executive Officer Kiwalabye Male informed the commission that the Namasole had no right to sell land, which was put under the Kabaka’s custodianship after the restoration of traditional institutions in 1993.

However, Minister Kibuule says his land title was legally issued by the Uganda Land Commission.

The land inquiry commission has summoned Kibuule to give his position on the matter on Wednesday.
