Nakasongola district officials charged in court
Kyenkya and Galimaka entered a plea of not guilty and were granted bail of Shs 2,000,000 each

The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has today charged two officials from Nakasongola District local Government with 4 counts of causing financial loss, abuse of office, conspiracy of fraud and conspiracy to commit felony.

The two officials who appeared at the Anti-Corruption court in Kololo are; Human Resource Officer, Nakasongola District Local Government, Kyenkya Joshua and Account Nakasongola District Local Government,Galimaka Hosea.

Kyenkya and Galimaka entered a plea of not guilty and were granted bail of Shs 2,000,000 each.

According to section 20 of the Anti-Corruption Act,2009, any person working for the Government commits an offence for knowingly causing financial loss to the Government and is liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment not exceeding fourteen years.

In March 2015, Kyenkya and Galimaka knowingly included nonexistent employees in the payroll  system of the local government an act that caused Government financial loss.

In the same year, Kyenkya and Galimaka, conspired to defraud the Ministry of Public Service and Nakasongola Local Government of Shs 164,075,106 through inclusion of nonexistent workers on the Payroll system.

They will appear before court on 27th October,2017 to fix the matter for hearing.
