A report by the Professional Standards Unit of the Uganda Police Force has named Kampala Metropolitan Police as the most corrupt regional police force.

The report was based 1271 cases of misconduct during the execution of official duty that were registered against officers from all over the country between January and June this year.

According to Vincent Ssekate, the spokesperson of the Professional Standards Unit, at 469, Kampala Metropolitan Police has the highest number of officers who have be reported for taking bribes, cited for misconduct and neglecting their duties.

In the three regions that make Kampala Metropolitan, that is Northern, Eastern and Southern, Katwe Police Station, which is under Southern leads the table of rogue officers, according to the report.

While Kampala Metropolitan police lead the list of rogue officers, Arua comes second with 106 cases lodged against police officers in that jurisdiction.

Ssekate, says the continued arrests of misbehaving police officers has helped in improving the conduct of police personnel around the country.
