Test and treat policy leads to ARV shortages in Masaka
The National Medical Stores admits shortage due to both financial constraints and poor requisition formulas

It is a year now since the government introduced the Test and Treat policy, requiring all medical workers to enroll people on Anti-retroviral Therapy once found to be HIV positive.

Officials at Masala Regional Referral Hospital say in a day they enroll between 8-10 people on ARVs under the treatment policy. However, as a result, the hospital is grappling with ARV shortages.

Dan Kimosho says they now have enough stock for the next four months.
