Judge Luswata declines DPP's request to transfer Mumbere case from Jinja to international crimes court
Justice Luswata agreed with King Mumbere's lawyers that at this stage when the king has not yet been committed for trial before the ICD, he can appear before any High Court judge to seek bail.

Jinja High Court resident Judge Eva Luswata has declined to grant a request by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to have the bail application of Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere heard at the International Crimes Division of the High Court.

Justice Luswata agreed with King Mumbere's lawyers that at this stage when the king has not yet been committed for trial before the ICD, he can appear before any High Court judge to seek bail.

On Monday, Senior Principal State Attorney Rachael Bikhole, who acts on behalf of the DPP, asked court to refer King Mumbere's bail application to the International Crimes Court in Kampala, saying it was the legally mandated court to hear the cases like terrorism and murder against the king.

Justice Luswata will give her verdict on King Mumbere's bail application on Friday
