UPDF officer accused of protecting land grabber in Kajansi
Major Edson Akanyihayo had deployed military police soldiers allegedly to disperse people on Kajjansi forest reserve, only to find members of the land commission at the site.

A senior UPDF officer found himself in an embarrassing position when he came head on with police officers guarding members of the commission of inquiry on land matters as he tried to protect an alleged land grabber.

Major Edson Akanyihayo had deployed military police soldiers allegedly to disperse people on Kajjansi forest reserve, only to find members of the commission at the site.

Last evening the commission of inquiry into land matters had a stopover at Kajjansi forest reserve after they had been tipped that the land was being graded despite the commission's directive.

However, a few minutes later a UPDF soldier William Bonge emerged together with Major Edson Akanyihayo.

Major Akanyihayo who is attached to Makindye Military policBarracksks was being escorted by military men carrying batons.

Akanyihaho was in possession of a court order allegedly he received from Bonge on the directive of Eria Mubiru. On examining the court order Justice Bamugemereire noticed that the order was instead directing Mubiru to keep off NFA land.

Major Akanyihayo denied knowledge of Mubiru claimed he had only been tipped off by his bosses about the unknown people on land.

As tension was building up between the military Police and police guarding the judge and the commissioners, Justice Bamugemereire directed that Sergeant William Bonge is taken to the commissions' offices for further interrogation.
