Boda boda cyclist sues police for torture
Muhereza claims to have had injuries inflicted upon him when police beat up supporters of FDC and boda boda cyclists along Entebbe Road on Wednesday.

A victim of the police beatings that took place mid this week along Entebbe Road is suing the police officers who were involved for damages and alleged torture that was inflicted on him

Ronald Muhereza a boda boda cyclist and FDC Supporter is using his lawyers through Rwakafuuzi and Company Advocates to make police answerable for their actions.

Muhereza claims to have had injuries inflicted upon him when police beat up supporters of FDC and boda boda cyclists along Entebbe Road on Wednesday when Dr. Kizza Besigye was supposed to appear at the FDC party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, a Kampala surburb.

Ronald Muhereza, who visited the African Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims following the incident, says that the only crime that he committed was supporting Dr. Kizza Besigye and wants those that were in charge of the operation to account for their actions

Human rights lawyers have continued to condemn the actions of police saying that it was not necessary to wantonly beat bystanders and supporters of Dr. Kizza Besigye who were not doing anything wrong.

On Thursday, the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, justified the actions of the police saying that beating up the supporters was justified and done within the law.

Although the Police revealed that they will investigate the incidents using their Professional Stardards Unit, human rights defenders do not want the actions to go unchallenged.
