Uganda Government to pay new born Babies a monthly salary
The programme will cost 467 billion shillings annually, and according to the Minister, it will be funded by donors. According to Minister, every child who is born will automatically be enrolled in the programme on registration.

Government is set to implement a plan whereby it will pay 23,000 thousand shillings for each child born until they are two years old.

 

State Minister for Youth and Children’s Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi said the child support cash grant is expected to be rolled in the next year after approval by cabinet and parliament.

 

Ms Kiyingi said that when you give this money to a mother, it would give them time to focus on breastfeeding their children because they would have some additional income.

 

The minister made the revelations after launching the National Child Participation Strategy at Kitante Primary School in Kampala.

With Save the Children and Unicef as implementing partners.
