State Prosecutors call off strike
The prosecutors voted to end their 5-day industrial action after holding a meeting with the Justice Minister Kahinda Otafiire.

State prosecutors have called off their strike after the government promised to increase their salaries in the next 3 months.

The prosecutors voted to end their 5-day strike, which brought business in Uganda's courts to a standstill, after holding a meeting with the Justice Minister Kahinda Otafiire. Key among the reasons for their industrial action was their demand for more pay.

Otafire told the prosecutors that the government is working on resolving their concerns. He added that governent was cognizant of their plight and was committed to making their working conditions better. He assured them that he has tabled their requests to the relevant government officials for consideration.

However, Otafiire said that government is currently facing financial constraints and the changes to renumeration would only take effect after 3 months.

The State Prosecutors decided to suspend the strike for 90 days as they waited for implementations of the changes they had been promised.
