Uganda Electricity Generation Company names new supervisor for Isimba power project
Speaking during a meeting to introduce the new supervisor to Isimba power dam project staff, the Managing director of the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited; Eng Harrison Mutikanga said he was glad the process of getting a new Supervisory engineer was expedited.

The Uganda Electricity Generational Company limited (UEGCL) has named a new owners engineer for its Isimba hydropower project.

The new owners' engineer is French firm ARTELIA EAU & environment, in association with its Uganda partner KKATT consult limited and this consortium will be taking over from Energy Infratech PVT Ltd (EIPL) an Indian company who contract ended.

The consortium mandate will be to do design review, quality assurance, project supervision, and ensuring strict enforcement of contractual obligations by the China water and electric corporation, and the engineering procurement and construction contractor.

Speaking during a meeting to introduce the new supervisor to Isimba power dam project staff, the Managing director of the Uganda electricity generation company Eng Harrison Mutikanga said he was glad the process of getting a new owners engineer was expedited, he also celebrated the fact that KKATT consults limited a Ugandan company was part of the consortium.

''The presence of a local firm in this partnership is not just a response to the call Build Uganda-Buy Uganda for the sake of it, but is deliberate in ensuring knowledge transfer and general local capacity building so that in future such pivotal roles can be performed by Ugandans'' He said.

The Isimba Hydropower project is expected to add 183 megawatts to Uganda's electricity grid, and according to UEGCL's managing director Harrison Mutikanga, Isimba will be producing electricity August 2018.
