A Gaaga bus travelling to Kampala from Lira has reportedly been involved in a fatal accident at Coperlwor, in Katulikire in Kiryandongo district.

The bus registration number UAK 562K is said to have left Lira at 5 PM this evening.

An eyewitness at the scene says the accident happened after the bus hit a tractor with no headlights, and then swerved off the road, where it rammed into a beer truck.

Over 20 people have reportedly died, and several are said to have sustained injuries and have been rushed to Kiryandongo hospital for medical attention.

Another Eyewitness who was travelling in another car told the daily Monitor that most of the dead and injured were students returning to school for their second term.

However speaking to NTV, Police says they have not confirmed the number of people dead.
