Aspirants speak out on the postponement of local council elections
The Electoral Commission had earlier designated 14th November, as the election date for Women council elections and next week on 21st November for Local council elections

Aspirants in the Local Council elections say the postponement of elections have brought a huge cost implication on their campaigns.

The elections that were due to start today were postponed indefinitely after the high court in Kampala issued an interim order stopping them until 15th when the main suit that is challenging the conduct of elections without including the participation of over one million students who are currently at school is heard.

The Electoral Commission had earlier designated 14th November, as the elections date for Women council elections and next week on 21st November for Local council elections

Many aspirants including Rhonda Ndahura, a women aspirant for Rubuga Road A zone are now disappointed with the court decision.

However, Rose Nansamba a woman aspirant in Rubaga Road B zone agrees with the court on the ground that the exercise would disfranchise students who are eligible voters.
