NRM caucus to meet over 27 MPs who rejected Age limit law
Solomon Silwany the Vice-chairperson of the NRM caucus points out that if the majority of the caucus members vote for disciplinary action then the 27 MPs shall be forwarded to the party’s disciplinary committee.

The NRM parliamentary Caucus is due to meet on Tuesday and key on the agenda is the what action to take against the 27 MPs who departed from the official party position and voted against the so-called age limit bill.

Most of the 27 MPs will attend the meeting but some have indicated that they have no intention of attending.

According Solomon Silwany, the caucus vice-chairperson, will also be attended by the party’s members in the East African Legislative Assembly.

Silwany stressed that key on the agenda will be the issue of the 27 NRM lawmakers that voted against the constitutional amendment No. 2 bill of 2017.

Some of the NRM MPs that voted against the amendment, have confirmed receiving messages inviting them to the meeting.

Silvia Akello, the Woman MP for Otuke says she welcomes the chance to give her justification for going against the official party position.

However, the Kasambya County MP Gaffa Mbwatekamwa and Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Ssekikubo have said they have no intention of attending the meeting.

The MPs argue that if the NRM Caucus wants them disciplined then they should blame their constituents.

However, Solomon Silwany points out that if the majority of caucus members vote for disciplinary action then the 27 MPs shall be forwarded to the party’s disciplinary committee.
