Police blocks Allan Ssewanyana's Pro-Age limit rally in Makindye
The situation led to a standoff between police and Ssewanyana’s supporters, which resulted in the use of tear gas to disperse the crowds.

Police today blocked Makindye West Member of Parliament Allan Ssewanyana from holding his first consultative meeting on a proposed bill that seeks to remove the presidential age limit from the constitution.

The police cited a lack of cooperation from the opposition legislator as the reason for blocking the meeting.

The situation led to a standoff between police and Ssewanyana’s supporters, which resulted in the use of tear gas to disperse the crowds.

According to Police, Allan Ssewanyana’s rally, which was to be held at a place called Kulekana in Makindye Division, was illegal.

The police said the venue was too close to the road and was likely to disrupt traffic.

Kampala Metropolitan South police commander Siraj Bakaleke vowed not to allow any politician to cause disruption in the area
