Lukwago also says no charges have so far been preferred against them.

Former FDC presidential candidate Dr Kiiza Besigye and other party leaders are still being held at Naggalama police station in Mukono a day after their arrest on their way to Kabale district.

Dr Kiiza Besigye, FDC's Secretary for Mobilisation Ingrid Turinawe and Party Presidential aspirant Patrick Amuriat were last night driven from Kabale district where they were arrested to Naggalama Police station in Mukono district.

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago who along with other opposition politicians went to visit Besigye, says police informed them that Besigye cannot be produced in court since state prosecutors are on strike.

Lukwago also says no charges have so far been preferred against them.

Besigye was arrested on his way to Kabale for consultation on the amendment of the constitution to remove the presidential age limit.

Meanwhile, the FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi has condemned the police acts of disrupting opposition rallies and consultation meetings on the removal of the presidential age limit.
