23 year old Ugandan designs smartphone to cater for African market
According to Ofoyuru, they have tested their phones in Europe and China in preparation for the possibility of having the phone sold to the world market.

 Uganda’s internal market requirement for smartphones runs in the region of 5 million handsets, worth billions of shillings each year.

A young Ugandan industrial designer Edgar Ofoyuru, together with 15 other colleagues have successfully designed a smartphone prototype, whose properties they say suites the African as well as Asian markets.

 

According to Ofoyuru, they have tested their phones in Europe and China in preparation for the possibility of having the phone sold to the world market.

 

They are now hoping that a formidable investor could pick interest in new their prototypes and roll out on commercial production, right here in Uganda.

 

He says that he hopes that in five years, his Pixan phone will be a symbol of Uganda to the world, the same way Samsung is a symbol of south Korea.
