Paidha Black Angels gets set to battle with KCCA FC in Uganda Cup final

The 43rd staging of the cup competition will either be lifted by eight-time winners KCCA FC or Paidha Black Angels who square off at the Green Light Stadium in Arua on Thursday.

Despite the two teams coming to the Uganda Cup final seemingly mismatched, the game will be one in which both teams have a lot to prove.

The Paidha Black Angles are one of the oldest teams in the country, having been established in 1979, but they are hardly known outside their home turf in West Nile. Winning the final, or putting up a spirited fight, could help raise the team's profile and prestige.

The Paidha Black Angels could seek to emulate the success of Onduparaka, their neighbours to the north in Arua, as the underdog team that came from the lower leagues to capture the hearts of the nation by qualifying to the premier league and getting to the Uganda Cup final. In the Black Angels case, a win would make the the team from Paidha the first non top-tier team to win the Uganda Cup.

However, all the Black Angels' aspirations might account for nothing because they will be playing against KCCA FC, which seems to be at its best form in a long time.

KCCA FC is still euphoric from recently winning its 12th league title and a string of recent successes in international fixtures. But most importantly the team will be looking towards winning its first season double-UPL and Uganda Cup.
