KCCA FC wins Uganda Cup after beating Paidha Black Angels
It has taken them 54 years to do it but now KCCA FC has joined as SC Villa and Express as the only sides to pull off a league and cup double.

It has taken them 54 years to do it but now KCCA FC has joined as SC Villa and Express as the only sides to pull off a league and cup double.

The Kasasiro Boys went into today’s final as odds-on favourites. Paidha Black Angels, who play in the lower reaches of Ugandan club football, were expected to be no match. And so was the case.

KCCA FC went in front as early as the 10th minute thanks to the predatory instincts of Geoffrey Serunkuma. The goal was Serunkuma’s 31st across all competitions this season.

Derrick Nsibambi ended any hopes of a comeback for Paidha Black Angels with a 56th minute goal. The goal secured the young striker the golden boot and KCCA FC a ninth Uganda Cup title.

The Kasasiro Boys have now moved within one title of equalling record winners Express FC. Mike Mutebi’s charges will now head to Port Harcourt Nigeria to take on Rivers United in a June 20th CAF Confederation Cup match with a spring in their step.
