Government moves to support local ICT innovations
Vincent Bagiire, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, argues that the 43 Billion Innovation Fund, provided for by government in the current financial year, should stimulate competitiveness of Ugandan innovators, to feed both the public and private sector

The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology is advising that a policy position may soon follow to ensure all Ministries, Department and Agencies lock their expenditures worth millions of shillings in sourcing softwares from within the country.

Vincent Bagiire, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, argues that the 43 Billion Innovation Fund, provided for by government in the current financial year, should stimulate competitiveness of Ugandan innovators, to feed both the public and private sector.

He was speaking during the launch of the Makerere Innovation and Incubation Centre, that is set out to be a hub of excellence in Information and Communication Technology innovation.
