Medical workers Union sues Doctor's association over ''illegal'' strike
Speaking to NTV, Dr Pauline Byakika insisted that the requests they made are for the Uganda medical association and its members, and not the Uganda medical workers union.

The Uganda Medical Workers Union has dragged all striking Doctors and medical practitioners to High court for engaging in an illegal industrial action. In their petition, the union wants all discussions between government and the association to be halted.

Aggrey Sanya the Secretary-General of the Uganda medical workers union said the cause the doctors are pushing is genuine, however, he insists the doctors did not follow the right procedure.

The Union is also suing Dr Sam Lyomoki and the President of the Uganda medical workers Union

The suit comes on the eve of a scheduled meeting between government officials and Uganda Medical Workers Association over the doctors’ demands for better pay.

Speaking to NTV, Dr Pauline Byakika insisted that the requests they made are for the Uganda medical association and its members, and not the Uganda medical workers union.

She also says that they submitted their requests to government and they will be going to the meeting to hear government's reply to the requests.
