Opposition Leader Kizza Besigye launches new campaign against Age limit
The opposition says they hope no-one will stand in their way because their activities, which they hope to start in the last week of January are not illegal.

Since government amended the constitution in December to lift the presidential age cap, the choir of opposing voices has grown louder with some considering going to court.

Opposition politicians led by former FDC president Dr Kizza Besigye came together to launch a campaign called Tubalemese, intended to reject the amendment.

Under the campaign, the politicians plan to reject members of parliament who voted for the amendment of the constitution.

Besigye says they will roll out leadership charts which show the structures in the “peoples’ government”, and which include constituting a national assembly.

Besigye warned of hard economic times this year, in which he anticipates biting inflation.

The opposition says they hope no-one will stand in their way because their activities, which they hope to start in the last week of January are not illegal.

However, government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo says this is for the cameras, he says the opposition does not have the numbers and even failed to field candidates in some constituencies
