NSSF readies financial war chest to finance national infrastructure projects

With upto 7 Trillion shillings now in assets and more than half in liquid form, the National Social Security Fund, NSSF, is expressing readiness to finance national infrastructure projects through Public Private Partnership model.

 

Richard Byarugaba, the Managing Director of the Fund, points out that in the interest of its members, oil and gas projects, energy and roads would be prioritised.

 

And with financial shortages in tow, government is anchoring its hope on the 2015 Public Private Partnership Act, to source fundings for its close to 10 Trillion shillings annually in planned expenditures on new infrastructure projects.
