5 Boxers to represent Uganda at the Commonwealth games
Uganda’s commonwealth bound boxing team the Bombers have resumed training at the Lugogo national council of sports Gym after successfully participating in the bigwa wa Mabigwa trial tournament in Tanzania last weekend

A strong team of nine boxers resumed non-residential training at Lugogo National Council of Sports Gym this morning in preparation for the 21st commonwealth games due in Gold coast Australia next month.

The team arrived home last evening from the Bigwa wa Mabigwa boxing Championship in Tanzania where they pick up two Gold and two Silver Medals.


Uganda Boxing Federation spokesperson says the Tanzania tournament was a learning Curve for his commonwealth bound team.

The team will enter residential camp on tomorrow at Kavumba recreational centre in a bid to give the boxers time to concentrate.


Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Association of Uganda and its patron Maj General Muhoozi Kaineruga have launched Uganda’s kit for the 2018 Gold coast Commonwealth games.

At a function held at the Serena, conference center sports Minister Charles Bakabulindi confidently told the press Uganda will return with not less than ten medals from the Championship.

Uganda was only good for five medals in the last games held in Scotland in 2014.
