Despite growing efforts, technical schools in Uganda still struggle with low enrolment in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses, especially among young women. This concern came to light at the Uganda Technical College Kicwamba, where hope met opportunity as 221 promising youth, including refugees and nationals, signed contracts for fully funded higher education. Selected from over 800 applicants across 20 districts, these students represent a new wave of talent, 80% of them young women, committed to breaking barriers and transforming their futures through education as detailed in this report.
