Consumers of digital services are increasingly concerned about hackers using malware to breach computer systems or infiltrate personal devices such as phones and other gadgets. The term “traffic scrubbing” was revealed to us by the Managing Director of Liquid Telecom, Michael Mukasa. He describes it as a cybersecurity technique that filters malicious traffic from legitimate data to prevent attacks. As digital usage surges past 23 million users, online attacks in Uganda have risen over 60% year-on-year, with 881 DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) incidents recorded in H1 2025 alone, targeting telecoms, finance, and critical infrastructure.
