NRM’s Alupo declared Paliisa Woman MP
Wednesday June 20 2018
Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Woman MP Candidate for Pallisa, Achola Catherine Osupelem has been disqualified by the electoral commission from the race and the NRM candidate Faith Alupo was declared the winner last evening since they were only 2 candidates contesting for the seat
The Electoral Commission says that the names she had used for nomination do not tally with those on her academic qualification. This was communicated in a letter dated and signed on the 14th July by Justice Simon Byamukama.
The FDC officials who through their Pallisa District Chairperson and party officials, held a press conference in Pallisa said they were not formally served and they learnt of this through social media.

Charle Rebero the returning officer Pallisa confirmed and declared NRM’s Faith Alupo as the woman MP for Pallisa arguing that since they were only 2 candidates in the race after disqualifying FDC candidate Alupo becomes the winner if not challenged in the courts of law.
Speaking on behalf of FDC, Angellina Osege the Soroti woman Mp, said they were not surprised by this move and they have asked their legal team to file a response in court.
Hon. Osege said the Electoral Commission had acted contrary to laws as they hurriedly declared NRM’s Faith Alupo as MP because five working days provided for the affected candidate hadn’t elapsed by the time of declaration.
She also said their candidate had sworn an affidavit for the inclusion of Osupelem on her academic documents in 2015.
