The Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) has announced an industrial action starting today. Secretary General Mr. Filbert Baguma has advised parents to keep their children at home. This comes as public schools reopen for the third term, just weeks before the transitional and final exams administered by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).

Meanwhile, Kedrace Turyagyenda, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Sports, has acknowledged the need for salary enhancements but emphasized that teaching is a calling that transcends financial gain.
