Kickstarter: Contending views of militarisation and democracy in Uganda
The evolving relationship between the military and political power in Uganda remains a complex and growing concern among political observers. With the second tabling—and possible passing—of the 2025 UPDF Amendment Bill, tensions are once again surfacing. This morning, we examine the influence of constitutionalist, nationalist, and socialist ideologies on military culture, and how these shape the norms, attitudes, and actions of military elites in Uganda’s political arena.
