Revival of cooperative bank in Uganda delayed by prolonged processes as 2025 target approaches
The cooperative movement in Uganda is still being held up by a long list of processes leading up to the revival of the cooperative bank to support society’s credit needs. The society of over 45,000 registered cooperators was hoping to have completed the necessary procedures to get the bank off the ground by the year 2025. Last year, the government put in place a seven-member committee, including representatives of cooperatives and SACCOs, to oversee these processes.
