President calls for tough laws against moneylenders
President Museveni says the executive is processing a law to regulate what he called "extortionate money lenders." President Museveni again accused money lenders of defrauding clients by turning contracts signed with illiterate borrowers into property purchase agreements. He challenged top judicial officers from 16 countries, who are in Kampala for a conference, to apply broader perspectives in their judgments whenever such cases arise in court.
