EALA moves to enhance access to medicines in East Africa
The East African Legislative Assembly has granted permission for the introduction of a bill to facilitate access to medicines within the community. Rwanda's representative, Francine Rutazana, moved the bill intending to promote trade, research, and innovations in the pharmaceutical industry. Uganda's representative to EALA, George Odongo, seconded the motion, stating that the importation of pharmaceuticals has dangerously stifled the growth and development of the sector in the region.
