Former Busiro South MP aspirant Paul Owor remanded to Luzira prison

Friday March 15 2024

Former Busiro South MP aspirant Paul Owor has been charged and remanded to Luzira prison by the Entebbe magistrate court on allegations of fraud, impersonation, and land malpractice.

During his appearance before Entebbe Chief Magistrate Stella Maris Amabilis, Owor faced an additional four counts, including forgery, uttering false documents, obtaining money by false pretense, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The charges stem from accusations that Owor defrauded Loyce Nahwera of UGX 75 million under the pretense of selling her a 100x100 piece of land in Namulanda zone, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso district.

In his defense, Owor vehemently denied any wrongdoing, attributing the charges to political motives aimed at tarnishing his reputation among his supporters.

Entebbe Chief Magistrate Stella Maris Amabilis ordered Owor and his co-accused Geoffrey Opule to be remanded to Luzira and Kigo prisons, respectively, until their bail application ruling on March 25, 2024.

The allegations against Owor include selling the same piece of land to both Loyce Nahwera and Geoffrey Opule for UGX 75 million each in July 2022. He claims to have acquired the disputed land from Buganda Kingdom's premier, Peter Charles Mayiga.
