Gen Katumba Wamala's daughter, Brenda laid to rest

Hundreds of mourners gathered at the home of General Katumba Wamala to send off his daughter Brenda Nantongo who was shot and killed together with the general’s driver by unknown assailants on Tuesday in Kisasi, a Kampala suburb.
Politicians, religious leaders, the top brass of the UPDF and Rotarians were among the many who gathered. The crowd followed the COVID-19 standard operating procedures.
Gen. Karumba Wamala and his Wife Catherine Katumba were hysterical as they gazed at the coffin carrying the body of their daughter who had recently returned from the US to work in Uganda.
Ever since the shooting, the perpetrators of this murder have not yet been found. The Chief of Defense Forces, Gen David Muhoozi used the opportunity to reassure the country not to be gripped in fear.
The CDF said that the wrong elements who attacked General Karumba Wamala killing his daughter and driver will be found. Addressing the congregation at the burial of Gen. Karumba’s daughter Brenda Nantongo, Gen. David Muhoozi said that the country should not submit to fear of the terrorists or glorify their heinous actions.
He asked the public and relevant authorities like police and judiciary to play a cardinal role in ensuring that the terrorists are arrested and face justice.
While delivering his summon, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Kazimba Mugulu called for dialogue in a bid to resolve any differences.
He used the time to pray for the soldiers and other officers of the armed forces whose duty is to defend the country and keep law and order.
At around 4.30, Brenda Nantongo, who dreamed of getting married and having children, was laid to rest at a family cemetery in Kakadwa off the Kayunga Mukono road. She will be remembered for her humbleness and kindness.
