The murder trial of Henry Katanga has once again hit a snag due to technical difficulties. The hearing, scheduled to resume oil Tuesday after a month-long adjournment, was abruptly halted as poor internet connection prevented the key suspect, Molly Katanga, from linking up from Luzira Women’s Prison.
Despite the setback, the prosecution was prepared to introduce its seventh witness, 48-year-old pathologist Richard Ambayo, believed to have examined Katanga's body. However, the technical hiccups forced Justice Isaac Muwata to adjourn the case until Wednesday, hoping the issue can be resolved.
Molly Katanga, who faces murder charges alongside her daughters, a shamba boy, and a nursing officer, had previously requested to attend court proceedings via Zoom due to mobility challenges. Her application was granted, allowing her to participate remotely.
The other accused, Martha Nkwanzi, Patricia Kakwanzi, George Amanyiire, and Charles Otai, are out on bail. Molly Katanga remains in custody after her bail applications were denied twice.
The trial is expected to continue tomorrow, with the prosecution hoping to present its key witness.
