Mugisha Muntu criticizes leaders avoiding politics at democracy symposium
Proponents of democracy and political leaders say democracy is under threat due to numerous challenges, including shrinking civic space. According to ANT President Gen. Mugisha Muntu, he is unhappy with individuals who could offer strong leadership but have chosen to avoid politics. This call was made during a symposium organized by Akina Mama Wa Africa, which drew participants from various political parties and civil society organizations across Africa, ahead of the commemoration of Democracy Day.
