The Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development is currently holding a consultative workshop in Lira to discuss the revised National Land Policy. The event brings together stakeholders from the Northern region to share their concerns and suggestions on land ownership and management.

The revised policy aims to transform Uganda from a peasant economy to a middle-income country by addressing complexities in land administration. However, recognizing the evolving needs of society, the ministry seeks to update the policy to serve all regions effectively.

Speaking at the workshop, Naome Kabanda, representing the Ministry of Lands, emphasized the importance of public engagement. "These discussions are crucial for people to understand what a policy is, how to enforce it, and comprehend the land administration framework."

The ministry plans to conduct countrywide consultations, recording all feedback and engaging various stakeholders, including cultural institutions, religious leaders, and district representatives.
